The shelf came from his father

A cream room in Spain at sunset, with an ultrawide on a wooden top, a slatted panel behind it, and a shelf and a riser made by hand.

1pctipaday took this photograph a couple of days before he posted it, when the sun dropped low enough to come straight through the window. Roller blinds hold the light and spread it over the room. The walls are a cream the painter mixed on the day, so there is no colour code for it. The panel of slats behind the desk is wallpaper, and it is coming away from the wall at the very top corner, which he found out from a reader and now has to fix.

Two things in the room are his father's work. The floating shelf above the desk is one, and the riser under the monitor is the other. The riser does nothing the arm does not already do, because the screen hangs on an Ergotron LX, and it stays because he likes the desk better with it.

The desk is a Flexispot E7 frame with a board made to fit, a hundred and sixty by ninety centimetres. He rates the frame, and says a standing desk is a good idea that he stands at less often than he means to. A UPS sits on the floor by the left leg, and the PC is on the desk in a Mcprue Apollo SE v1 case.

The screen is an Asus ROG Strix XG349C. The small dark panel beside the keyboard reads out a sensor board he built himself. The rug came last, a vinyl carpet from a shop near him, and he says the room only felt finished once it went down. A tall plant stands at the left of the desk, a Star Wars newspaper page hangs on the wall beside it, and a Spanish wall heater runs under the window.
