A dark room with a black vertical slat wall lit by white strips. A wide curved screen on a white arm stands on a walnut top over white drawer units, two white speakers hang on the wall either side, two Hokusai prints stand on a shelf above, and a water-cooled computer sits in a glass case on the right.

The cooler sits on the shelf

A black slat wall lit from behind, a 49 inch curved screen on a walnut top, and a water-cooled computer standing in glass beside it. The shelf above carries two Hokusai prints and the cooler the graphics card no longer needs.

The wall is black slats, cut to length and stuck on with silicone glue. That is the whole method, and it is also the reason they stay: taking them off again means filling the wall and painting it. A white strip outlines the panel, a warmer light sits behind the slats, and between them they are most of the light in the room.

An IKEA Lack shelf crosses the top on its own bracket, drilled between the slats with the screws it comes with. Two Hokusai prints stand on it, a glass lamp sits in the middle, and at the right-hand end is a three fan cooler. It came off the 4090, which now runs on a water block, and the shroud stayed in the room with nothing to do.

The top is an IKEA Karlby countertop, cleaned and polished with linseed oil, and it sits over two white drawer units. A Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 curves across it on a white arm, 49 inch, with a light bar on top that rarely goes on. The wallpaper behind the rain of gold is from the Steam workshop.

The computer stands on the desk to the right, in a Lian Li O11 with frosted tubing, a lit reservoir and a temperature read-out on the front. Two Yamaha HS4 monitors hang on the slats either side, on brackets. The Focusrite at the left end of the desk wears a white wrap rather than its own red, and a Stream Deck props up beside the mouse with the temperatures and the wattage on it. Trailing plants hang at both ends of the wall.
