The carpenter did the sums

The room is two point six metres by two point eight, and two point six metres to the ceiling. RogueValkyrie64 wanted a loft over the whole of it, so he gave a carpenter his requirement and left the sums to him. The loft came out two hundred and sixty centimetres long and the mattress on it is two hundred, so the sixty centimetres at the foot became a trap door.

Under the loft the desk turns the corner, and every screen on it has one job. The main screen sits in front of the chair. A twenty-two inch screen stands on its side, because a column of text reads better that way. A Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro is for reading, and stands in for a screen when one is short. A small screen at the desk runs the house. The wide screen on the wall above shows the cameras, and anything else that has to be seen and matters little. Windows 11 runs the desk.

Artificial grass covers the wall along the loft, and white foam tiles cover the wall behind the sofa. He read up on the tiles after he had put them up: the glue holds so well that getting them off again is the problem. String lights run the length of the loft rail and up the ladder. The light is most of why the room looks bigger than it is, and there is a second setting for gaming, where it follows what is on the screen.

The chair is an Ergohuman, in mesh. Below it the floor is hardwood, and it is mopped every day. A low sofa sits on a rug under the loft, with a mountain mural behind it and a table lamp beside it. The air conditioner is fixed to the wall above the bed and the draught misses him.
